Elsie embodies everything that La Vie en Rose Ltd stands for — compassion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the people she cares for. Every day, she brings warmth, positivity, and quiet strength, inspiring colleagues and clients alike. Her impact reaches far beyond her role; she is a mentor, a role model, and a source of support for everyone around her.
Her story is extraordinary. Originally from India, Elsie worked as a nurse alongside Mother Teresa, dedicating her life to helping others. Even decades later, she continues that mission in England. At 71, she still works tirelessly as a Complex Care Assistant at La Vie en Rose Ltd, travelling long distances from Cheltenham to Lechlade, navigating multiple buses without complaint, always arriving on time, and adapting to last-minute roster changes without hesitation.
Elsie’s dedication goes far beyond the ordinary. She once cancelled her flight to India to assist with a new care package, putting her clients’ needs before her own. On another occasion, when a door slammed shut and she lost her key, she climbed through a window to arrive on time. Her “can-do” attitude, reliability, and selflessness set a standard for what true care looks like.
She is also a problem-solver and mentor, quietly ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes and guiding younger staff without ever seeking recognition. Her patience, humility, and unwavering kindness create an environment of trust, safety, and inspiration for everyone she works with.
Elsie’s generosity extends far beyond her work in England. She donates her earnings to charity and support
abandoned children in India, leaving her own home to provide for them, while her daughter continues the day-to-day care. Elsie guides and supports them remotely, carrying forward Mother Teresa’s mission with remarkable devotion.
This award is a testament to her extraordinary life and work. Elsie is the true definition of an Unsung Hero — quietly heroic, endlessly giving, and deeply inspiring. She reminds us all that true heroism is not loud; it’s consistent, selfless, and compassionate.
